Why I make art:

To explore and symbolize my inner life.
To startle myself about what I don’t know.
To hold the opposites of beauty and pain, destruction and creation.
To transform the viewer through feeling and a new visual vocabulary.
To feel awe about the ordinary.
To create a transcendental quality that moves one to think and feel beyond the surface of life.
To remember the dead.
To move paint around the canvas.
To play and get messy.
To lose track of time and space and fall into a reverie.
